William James Grimes

Services will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 1:30 PM at Waynesboro Church of Christ, Waynesboro, TN with Bobby Pinckley officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens , Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of the arrangements.



Visitation will be on Saturday, November 14, 3:00-9:00 pm Sunday, November 15, 11:00 am until 1:15 pm service time @ Shackelford Funeral Home, Waynesboro



Mr. Grimes departed this life on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at his residence in Summertown, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 6 Months, 15 Days. He was born April 26, 1927 in Wayne County, Tennessee the son of the late Claude Wilson and Gladys Crews Grimes. In addition to his parents, Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Wilson Grimes and C.W. Grimes.



He was united in marriage to Rosalia Cruz on November 27, 1959.



Mr. Grimes was a retired Aircraft / Sheet Metal Mechanic with the Civil Service. He served his country in the United States Navy during 1947--1967. He was a member of the Church of Christ; US Navy Fleet Reserve and VFW.



He is survived by his wife Rosalia (Rose) (Cruz) Grimes of Summertown, TN;



son, William James (Jim) Grimes Jr. of Temecula, CA;



step daughter, Mildred Jean Brown of Sacremento, CA;



5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren



sisters, Margaret Gallaher of Waynesboro, TN, Mary Louise Owsalt of Nashville, TN, Frances Virginia Kelley of Waynesboro, TN, and Annette Rogers of Hampton, GA;



brothers, Ralph Eugene Grimes of Jackson, TN, Glen Howard Grimes of Savannah, TN, Bruce Grimes of Tuscumbia, AL;
