Finger, TN: William David Hensley, Sr. age 71 of Finger, TN died Tuesday evening at his home.
He was born in Alamo, TN on November 22, 1949, son of Lillie Merle Miller Buford and the late Raymond Hensley. He grew up in Alamo and was a 1969 graduate of Alamo High School. He began working on cars in high school and worked as a mechanic for over 20 years, owning Airways Texaco in Jackson for 8 years. He married Debra Carol Scott on June 2, 1982. They moved to Chester County 32 years ago and he began working in the grocery store business. He worked at Miller’s Big Star in Henderson for 23 years, retiring in 2018. He loved the Lord and was active in church and was a member of the Bethel Springs United Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his wife Debra of Finger; his mother Lillie Buford of Alamo; two sons David Hensley, Jr (Autumn) of Milan and Tim Hensley of Finger; two daughters Sarah Hensley of Jackson and Susan Ripley of Milan; two brothers Charlie Cowan (Pat) of Alamo and Jimmy Hensley of Brazil, TN; a sister Betty Ferra (Louis) of Miami, FL; eight grandchildren Braelynn, Taeghan, Rowan, Parker, Lilly and Cora Hensley, Parker and John Dylan Ripley.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers Harry and Gary Wayne Hensley.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 1, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson's East Main Chapel with Bro. Jeff Young, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Bells, TN.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 30, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the East Main Chapel.
Friends are asked to wear facial covering and practice social distancing as much as possible.
