William Edward Kanto, age 74, of Manassas, Virginia passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on August 13, 1939 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Peter J. and Eva Kanto.
After a long career with Woodward & Lothrop, William divided his time between working at Public Shoe Store, his second greatest passion after his family, and umpiring high school and minor league baseball.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Dorothy J. Stewart Kanto; daughters, Karen D. Watson of Tampa, Florida and Lisa K. Williams and husband David of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; a sister, Kathleen Jenkins of Marietta, Georgia; six beloved grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014, at 1:00 PM at White Sulphur Cemetery at Pickwick Dam, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Capital Caring (hospice), 10530 Linden Lak Plaza, Suite 200, Manassas, VA 20109.
