Obituary

William Kennedy "Ken" Seaton, 63, of Adamsville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born on June 10, 1963, in Selmer, Ken was the son of the late Elmer D. Seaton and Geneva Kennedy Seaton. He was a proud son of McNairy County, and while life gave him many opportunities, his heart never strayed far from the community he called home.

Ken graduated from the University of Memphis before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law.

For 38 years, Ken devoted his life to the practice of law, serving the people of McNairy County for 37 of those years. He believed in doing what was right, treating people fairly, and giving his clients not only his knowledge but his compassion. His work earned the respect of colleagues, clients, and friends, but to Ken, serving his community was never just a profession—it was a calling.

As much as he loved his work, nothing compared to the love he had for his family.

Ken shared 37 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Amy, building a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. He was a proud father to Andrew Seaton and his wife, Ruth, of Chicago, Illinois; Amelia Seaton of Nashville, Tennessee; and Alex Seaton and his wife, Jess, of Adamsville, Tennessee.

In recent years, one of his greatest joys was becoming "Papaw" to his three grandsons, William (6) , Fitzhugh (4), and Hank (9 months). There was nothing that brought a bigger smile to his face than spending time with them, watching them grow, and creating memories they will carry with them for a lifetime.

Ken is also survived by his brother, Richard Seaton and his husband, John, of Washington, D.C.; his sister, Jennifer Cook and her husband, Michael, of Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer D. Seaton and Geneva Kennedy Seaton.

He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Adamsville. One of his favorite times of the week was his time spent in his Men’s Sunday School Class.

When Ken wasn't working, he could usually be found outdoors. Whether hunting in the woods, fishing on the water, golfing with friends, or spending time on the family farm, he found joy in the quiet beauty of God's creation. He was a devoted fan of Memphis Tigers basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Those who knew him also knew that some of life's best conversations happened beside him in a deer stand, on a fishing boat, around the golf course, or sitting on the porch at home.

Ken will be remembered for his steady presence, quick wit, generous spirit, and quiet confidence. He believed in hard work, keeping your word, loving your family well, and serving your neighbors. Guided by a steadfast faith, he lived with humility, integrity, and compassion, touching countless lives through his kindness, wisdom, and example. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in God's promise of eternal life and the assurance that Ken is now in the presence of the Lord.
