Mr. Majors passed away May 3, 2012 at the Tennessee State
Vetereans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee.
Mr. Majors' friends knew him as Gaylord. He was employed with
Amira Corporation from April 1949 until his retirement, July 1980.
He was a World War II Veteran and served in the Army in Germany
and France from 1943 - 1944. He was awarded the Bronze Star,
Good Conduct, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, World
War II Victory medals, the Combat Infantry Badge and the
Honorable Service Lapel Button. He enjoyed singing and playing
many different instruments. He was a Deacon and faithful servant to
many at the Church of Christ in Bolivar.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy B. Majors, his
parents, Benjamin Hollis Majors and Della Bass Majors; a great-
granddaughter, Rachel Majors; four brothers, Wilburn, Dallas, Carl
and Paul majors; and three sisters, Iva McKee, Opal Smith and
Lizzie Trainum. He is survived by two children, Ann Brown (George)
and Bill Majors; and one sister, Martha Lillie Cole.
He was affectionately known by his seven grandchildren and thirteen
great-grandchildren as "Paw" or "Paw Paw." Surviving grandchildren
are Tony Brown (Tammie), Todd Brown (Tammy), Dana Childer
(Terry), Doug Majors, Julie Brown, Amy Winstead (Stan), and Liz
Vaughan (Steve). Surviving great-grandchildren are Jennifer,
Kristie, Justin, Kayla, Dylan, Kelly, Nathan, Peyton, Matthew,
Chase, Justin, Hunter and Autumn.
Pallbearers to serve are Doug Majors, Tony Brown, Todd Brown,
Dylan Vaughn, Joe Cole, Craig White, Rayford McKee, Jimmy
Trainum and Dwight Smith.
