William E. Rochell

William E. Rochell, a beloved English teacher and Entrepreneur, passed away on January 26, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on January 6, 1932, in Lawrence County, William was the son of Bertha Ellen Kelly Rochell and William Richard Rochell. 

William's passion for education led him to pursue a 4-year degree at MTSU. After completing his education, he dedicated himself to teaching English for over two decades in Ocoee Florida. His commitment to shaping young minds left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students who were fortunate enough to be taught by him.         Not only was William a dedicated teacher, but he also had an entrepreneurial spirit that drove him to pursue various business ventures throughout his life. His determination and resilience served as an inspiration to those around him.

In addition to his career achievements, William proudly served his country in the Korean War as a member of the Air Force from 1950 to 1958. His service demonstrated his unwavering patriotism and commitment to protecting freedom.

Outside of work and military service, William enjoyed golfing and bowling. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to connect with friends and loved ones. His genuine enthusiasm for these activities created lasting memories shared with those closest to him.

William was a loving family man who cherished his relationships dearly. He is survived by his brothers Thomas, Gary, and Ken; sisters Joy and Faye; daughters Rachel, Nicole, and Desiree; sons Anthony, Christopher, Richard, Jason, and John; as well as 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The love he bestowed upon his family will always be cherished by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Odell, Ray, Floyce, and David, and sisters, Lois and Joan.

Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation service scheduled for January 31, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Wayne County, located at 104 West Hill Street, Waynesboro, TN 38485. Following the visitation, a funeral service will also be held at the same location at 2:00 PM.
