William “Bill” Curtis Siler, born April 18, 1934, in Silerton, TN, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, surrounded by his family at the age of 90.
A devoted husband, Bill shared a lifetime of love and partnership with his wife, Vonda Siler, since their marriage on September 13, 1958. Together, they built a family filled with love and cherished memories, and they were rarely ever apart. He was a proud father to Gary Siler and Barry Siler and a beloved father-in-law to Barry’s wife, Sheila Siler. His greatest joy came from his role as a grandfather to Kirsten Siler, whom he always treated as a daughter, and her husband, Adren Crawford, with whom he spent many hours watching and talking about the latest sports games. When Barry married Sheila, Bill gained two more girls to be proud of, Ashley Willis and Brittney Willis. Bill was also a dear uncle and cousin to many, always treasuring the bonds of family and keeping up with everyone he knew until his last days.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Vernon Siler and Grace Willoughby Siler; his brother, Truett Siler; and his sisters, Mildred Siler Bass, Jolene Siler Lee, and Norma Jean Siler Sedberry.
Some notable accomplishments Bill was proud of include farming the fields of Silerton with his family growing up, serving in the U.S. Army in Upper Heyford England on a Radar Squadron of Anti-Aircraft Company in 1956, working for many years at the Tannery, Harman Automotive, and the Tax Assessor’s Office until he was nearly 80-years-old, serving as a Deacon for Silerton Baptist Church, volunteering for many years with Loaves and Fishes in Bolivar, donating more than 43 gallons of platelets to the West TN Community, tending to a large garden of home grown vegetables he was proud to share with as many people as he could, playing, pitching, and coaching for the Silerton baseball team, frequently taking road trips with his family, and celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Silerton, TN. He was a warm friend to many and a stranger to none.
On warm, sunny days, Bill and Vonda were often sitting in their driveway watching cars go by, enjoying the simple pleasures of life together. Vonda describes Bill as the best husband and partner she could have ever chosen, and his children know him as the toughest (on the inside), most gentle father who would do anything for them.
His patience, wisdom, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A service to honor his life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Silerton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Bill’s memory be made to: Silerton Cemetery Fund, c/o Tammy Foote, 745 Firetower Road Henderson, TN 38340.
