Obituary

William "Bill" Thomas, a master carpenter, veteran, and devoted family man, passed away on April 22, 2026. Born on July 4, 1938, in Stantonville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Willie and Velma Rinks Thomas. A proud 1957 graduate of Adamsville High School, Bill went on to serve his country with honor for two years in the United States Army. On October 1, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Musto, beginning a life together that was built on a foundation of faith, hard work, and a shared love for their community.

A man of great skill, Bill spent his professional career as a carpenter for TVA and as a homebuilder. His craftsmanship was not just a job but a calling; he famously refurbished the old farmhouse where he and Mary Lou resided, breathing new life into the structure with his own two hands. A faithful member of West Shiloh Baptist Church, Bill found joy in the quiet precision of woodworking, often crafting shelves and other treasures for his loved ones. He also found peace in the rhythm of the seasons while gardening and in the stillness of the water while fishing.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Thomas of Stantonville, and his son, John Thomas, along with his wife Cheryl, also of Stantonville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joey Thomas; his brothers, Franklin, Henry, and George Thomas; and his sister, Glenda Thomas Gibbs. His legacy of strength, integrity, and the beauty he created with his hands will be forever cherished by his family and friends.
