WILLIAM LUKE ‘BILL’ TRICE, SR.
Henderson, TN: William Luke ‘Bill’ Trice, Sr. age 78 passed away Tuesday afternoon October 10, 2017 at his farm.
He was born February 2, 1939 in Henderson, TN, the son of the late William Lee and Zelda Opal Allen Trice. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1957 and began working for the TN Department of Transportation. He married Nancy Gowan on April 20, 1962. They had been married fifty-five years. He began working for Southern Bell Telephone in 1963, and retired from AT&T in 1998 with thirty-five years of service. He was owner of Trice Century Farm established in 1856. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson, Henderson Elks Lodge, Sons of Confederate Veterans- Ike Stone Camp, Chester County Farm Bureau, First Farmers Co-op and the Chester County Equalization Board. He enjoyed fishing and visiting his cabin on the TN River. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Trice is survived by his wife, Nancy Carolyn Gowan Trice of Henderson; two sons, William Luke Trice, Jr. and wife Crystal of Warner Robbins, GA and Lee Allen Trice and wife Toni of Henderson; five grandchildren, Heather Matlock, Christianna Littell, Colton Trice, Austin Trice and Rilee Trice and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Melton.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Henderson City Cemetery, with Pastor Marcus Kelley officiating.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
