William Tolbert White

William Tolbert White was born February 25, 1920 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Pearl Columbus and Sarah (Sallie) Elizabeth Littlejohn White.
He was united in marriage to Nettie Mae Mullens on September 20, 1941 and celebrated 78 years of marriage.
Mr. White served in the United States Army during WW II and later retired as a driver for Ryder Truck Lines. He enjoyed gardening, working on machinery and automobiles, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending various Primitive Baptist Church services across the country with his wife. He and his wife attended Raleigh Primitive Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.
Mr. White departed this life November 18, 2019 in Memphis, TN at the age of 99. He is survived by his wife, Nettie Mae White of Memphis, TN; two children, his son Ralph White of Germantown, TN and daughter Myra Kane of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hughes of Canton, MS and Lauren Kane of Memphis, TN; three great-grandchildren: Ayden, Ava and Waye Hughes of Canton, MS; and many more extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett White and Roy White, and two sisters, Myrtle Matlock and Mary North.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice and the staff and resident friends at Sycamore Place Alzheimer's Special Care Center who cared for Mr. White.
