William Van Young

Morris Chapel, TN: William Van ‘Shug’ Young, age 65 passed away July 1, 2011 at his home.



He was born in Jackson, TN and raised in Finger, TN the son of the late Frank and Ollie Floss Davidson Young. He went to Chester County High School. He help farm as a young man and was in construction of bridges of this area. He worked for TVA helping Tom Biggby Waterway and later with Ford Construction as a supervisor on bridges. He was married to Patricia Ritter in 1970 and later married Carolyn Kelley in 1997. They made their home in Henderson and Finger. He retired in 2008. They moved to the Morris Chapel on the Tennessee River in Hardin County. He loved fishing and being on the water. He was in the Tennessee National Guard for 18 years.



He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kelley Young of Morris Chapel; three daughters, Sylvia Nash of Morris Chapel, Julia Smith of Jackson and Christi Smith of Henderson; a step son, James Wilkerson of Morris Chapel; 7 grandchildren, Nicki Robinson, Caleb Russell, Haylee Russell, Myles Martin, Christian Gomez, Rhianna Gomez and Brittany Wilkerson.



He was preceded in death by a son, William Van Young, Jr. in 1988.
