Willie Hugh Clayton was born September 4, 1926 in Finger, TN the son of the late Hugh L. and Nora Pitts Clayton.
He was united in marriage to Emily Katherine Carothers on February 14, 1947.
Mr. Clayton served his country honorably in the United States Army, being trained as a paratrooper. He retired as a shoe cutter from Brown Shoe Company, Factory V, after 41 years of service. Mr. Clayton enjoyed fishing and gardening; tomatoes were his specialty. He was a faithful member of the Fourth Street church of Christ in Selmer.
Mr. Clayton departed this life on March 2, 2017 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 5 Months, 26 Days. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Emily Katherine (Carothers) Clayton of Bethel Springs, TN; a daughter, Anita Graham and husband Bob of Bethel Springs, TN; a grandchild, Andrew Clayton (Andy) Graham and wife Madison of Selmer, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Clayton was preceded in death by a grandchild, Matthew Shane (Matt) Graham, on September 27, 1998; three sisters: Florene Lindsey, Almarie Hipps, and Mary Nell Ward; and a brother, Tillman Clayton.
