Willie Hester Pope

Miss Willie Hester (Bill) Pope of Trenton, TN formerly of Waynesboro, TN departed this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 Trenton Place Care and Rehabilition Center in Trenton, Tennessee at the age of 100 Years, 2 Months, 7 Days.



She was born November 6, 1909 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William James and Nora Elizabeth Tharpe Pope. In addition to her parents, Miss Pope was preceded in death by brothers, Joe L. Pope, Jim Pope, John M. Pope and Marvin Pope, and a unnamed infant; sisters, Ruth Ashmore, Reba Bray, Grace Fisher, Inez Freeze, and Nora Elizabeth (Betsy) Pope.



Miss Pope last worked as a head start assistant and was a member of the Waynesboro United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee.



Survivors include, nieces, Hilda Forsythe, Sue Simington, Nancy Franklin, Barbara G. Scott, and Doris L. Pipkin; nephews, James B. Freeze, Norman L. Bray, Jr., and Cary L. Pope; and cousins



Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Marvin Champion officiating. Burial will follow in the Bell Cemetery at Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 1 pm on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the funeral home.
