W. L. Swinford, 83, of Saulsbury, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at Bolivar General Hospital.
Mr. Swinford was born on Sept 14, 1940, in Ashland, MS, where he grew up. He lived in Brownfield, MS, for a while, and lived in Hardeman County, TN, for most of his life. Mr. Swinford was a hardworker all his life. He worked on and traded cars. He loved having a garden, being outdoors and he loved his dogs. He like to loaf around, visit and, enjoyed going out to eat including at "Deb's" house.
His survivors include four daughters, Cindy Hodge and husband Aubrey, of Middleton, Teresa Irwin and husband Scott, of Faulkner, MS, Deborah Earnest and husband Robert, of Pocahontas, and Janice Taylor and husband Larry, also of Pocahontas; a son Randy Swinford of Middleton, TN,; a stepdaughter, Becky Watkins and husband Robert of Walnut, MS; a stepson, James "Bubba" Wilbanks and wife Shannon also of Walnut, MS; two sisters, Mary Lee Funderburk of Michigan City, MS, and Betty Jo Abby of Walnut, MS; a sister-in-law, Deb Surratt and husband Mike of Middleton, TN; two brothers-in-law, Wayne and Ronnie Sisco, both of Middleton; former wife and mother of his five children, Geraldine Wilbanks, of Middleton, TN; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, C. L. and Mary Ellen Hopkins Swinford; his wife Kathy Jean Swinford, two brothers, Alvie and James "Snowball" Swinford; a sister, Edna Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Terry and Bobby Sisco.
