Wilma Linda Barber was born March 13, 1920 in Crump, Tennessee the second of ten children of the late Ethel Newton Tedford and Odear Young Tedford.
She was united in marriage to Dennie Grant Barber on January 30, 1944. Mr. Barber preceded her in death on July 17, 2001.
Mrs. Barber was a wonderful baker, having worked at Bomar's in Adamsville and later at Pickwick Inn as a pastry chef for over five years. She was known for her pies, cooking for her family and canning vegetables. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. She was a member of the West Shiloh Baptist Church in Stantonville, Tennessee and would often quote the Scripture to her grandchildren.
Mrs. Barber departed this life on August 2, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 4 Months, 20 Days. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Donnie Barber, Ronnell Gibbs, Cherry Blanton, Alan Barber, Terri Kalil, Selena Dickey, Jessica Barnes; 12 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Rickman of Selmer, TN, Rebecca Nell Roten of Selmer, TN, Dorothy Jean Ingle of Selmer, TN; host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Barber was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Donnell Blanton; a son, Jerry Don Barber; a sister, Alice Lou Tedford; five brothers, Lowdie, Leonard, Paul Hayes, Joe E. , and Raymond Tedford.
