Wilma Barnes

Wilma G. Barnes passed away on Sunday, January 08, 2017 at McNairy Regional Health Care Center. She was born on July 2nd, 1931 in McNairy County to the late Tony & Jessie Carpenter Plunk. She was a member of Maggie Jones Methodist Church in Finger, TN. Wilma was a homemaker who was famous for her cooking, (esp. biscuits, pecan pies, chili & baked beans). Her hobbies included reading her Bible, working word puzzles, and spending time with her family.
In 1947, she married James Ray Smith. They had 2 sons, James Larry Smithand Rickie Ray Smith. Unfortunately, James Ray passed away in a tragic accident on October 7th, 1954. Being a single mother of 2 sons, she moved back to live by her parents. In 1956, she married R.C. Barnes. They had a son, Donald Neal Barnes in 1971. RC and Wilma were married for 57 years. She lived a wonderful life and was dedicated to her family.
Wilma was preceded in death by her 1st husband, James Ray Smith and her 2nd husband, R.C. Barnes, her brother, Charles Nathan Plunk and sister, Shelby Jean Plunk.
She is survived by her children: Larry Smith, Rickie (Jenise) Smith and Donald Barnes; a sister, Mary Ann Nash (Max); 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and family.
