Winell Miller
was born in Wayne County, Tennessee on January 9, 1921 the daughter of the late Gilbert and Audrey G. Beckham Phillips.
On April 29, 1939 she was united in marriage to Herbert Miller, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1972.
Mrs. Miller had worked for the Brown Shoe Company, Cotton Patch, Woods Shoe Department Store, and she would sit with the elderly until she herself was 80 years old. She was a great cook and enjoyed working with flowers, doing word puzzles, and was a great lover of nature. Mrs. Miller loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Miller departed this life at her home on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the age of 89 years, 8 days.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Jo Nell Miller Smith of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Pamela Regina Miller Highland of Savannah, Tennessee; 2 sisters, Gilberta Beth Phillips McCasland of Savannah, Tennessee and Lorene Phillips Lawthorn of Collierville, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren, Starla Dawn Highland Goodman, Angela Dawn Smith Butler, Marion "Michelle" Smith Carlson, Tammy Regina Smith Watson, and Ashley Kristen Smith Mozingo; 20 great-grandchildren, Kristen Goodman, Anna Leigh Butler, Chelsea Butler, Chris Carlson, Rachel Carlson, Caroline Carlson, Kimberly Markham, Karla Watson, Karen Watson, Kelly Watson, Kyle Watson, Kelsey Watson, Kaleb Watson, Kurt Watson, Katherine Watson, Kevin Watson, Kasey Watson, Robert Mozingo, Grace Wilkes, and Miller Rose Mozingo; 3 great great grandchildren, Madeleine Markham, James Markham, and Ellie Butler.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bernetta Phillips; 2 brothers, Bill Phillips and Lloyd Phillips.
