X L Hunter
Finger/Bolivar: X L Hunter, age 89 died Friday morning, April 29, 2016 at Jackson General Hospital.
Mr. Hunter was born and reared in McNairy County at Finger, the son of the late Alvin and Virgie Allison Hunter. He attended schools at Old Friendship and worked on the farm with his family until 1964 when he was employed at Harmon Industries in Bolivar. He retired in February 1992 and continued to make his home in Bolivar until 2006 when he moved to McNairy County Healthcare.
He is survived by three brothers; Clay Marcus Hunter of Shiloh, Willie A. Hunter of Middleton, and John Edwin Hunter of Memphis and two sisters; Betty Hopkins Stewart of Selmer and Judy Lawrence Outlaw of Dover, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; James Welton Hunter and Franklin D. Hunter, and Jerry Elys Hunter and a sister Imogene Meyer.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Hunter Callis officiating and burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
