ZOLA M. ROWLAND
Henderson: Zola Mae Arnold Rowland, age 91, died Thursday night at her home in the Palestine Community of Chester County.
Mrs. Rowland was born and reared in the Woodville Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Calvin ‘Cal’ Arnold, Sr. and Mattie Melinda Isbell Arnold. She attended schools at Phillips School House and Deanburg. She married Burl E. Rowland in December of 1941. They lived in the Palestine Community all their married life. She seamed sleeves at Salant & Salant for 17 years and later worked at Taylor’s Outlet in Selmer. Mr. Rowland, her husband of 67 years, died in December 2007.
Mrs. Rowland was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church. She loved to garden and quilt.
She is survived by a son; Skippy Rowland and wife Shirley of Henderson, three daughters; Betty Robison and husband Larry of Bruceton, Nelda Fry and husband Jerry of Bolivar, and Phyllis Donaldson and husband Jimmy of Henderson, two sisters; Thelma Beshires of Henderson and Clara Ruth Worsham of Bemis, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers; Calvin Arnold, Jr., Archie Arnold, Doyle Arnold, and J. W. Arnold.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday at Palestine Baptist Church with Skippy Rowland, Anthony Rowland, and Jimmy Franklin Donaldson officiating and burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel beginning at 6:00 PM Sunday.
