She was born and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late Charlie Ethridge and Nancy Elizabeth Brewer Davis. She attended schools in Chester County. She was married to James Elijah (J.E.) Phillips in 1933. They made their home in Jackson and later Memphis. Mr. Phillips died in 1992.
She is survived by a son James H. 'Jim' Phillips of Memphis and a daughter Saundra Kinzer of Como, MS.
