OUR SERVICES

Take a moment to explore the services we offer, thoughtfully designed to honor your loved one with care, dignity, and meaningful attention to every detail.

Our Facilities

In 1926, R. E. and Loura Paisley Shackelford borrowed $500 from a local bank and purchased the funeral service business of Churchwell Stores. The year 1933 found the family purchasing the DeFord house just a few blocks further down Main. It was destined to become the first full-service funeral home operated by the Shackelfords; however, R. E.’s sudden death in 1935 kept him from seeing the dream become reality. His wife Loura managed the business from then until her grandson, Robert Shackelford, Jr., returned to Savannah in 1955 to relieve her of those duties. The current facility opened on December 31, 1978 and was designed to meet the needs of any family searching for funeral or cremation options.

How we began

Waco Memorial Park was founded in 1947 by men of outstanding vision whose purpose it was to create a nonsectarian cemetery, to be perpetuated as a memorial park. From the beginning, their ideas met the approval of families who saw Waco Memorial Park as a place where those who pass on may rest in an environment of dignity and peace.

What Differentiates Us

Waco Memorial Park is the only cemetery in the area that has perpetual care established under the State of Texas Department of Banking. In conformity with State Cemetery Laws, a percentage of each lot sale is deposited in an irrevocable trust fund which provides upkeep of each lot forever. Families will never be asked to pay any dues or assessments for upkeep.
