Our Facilities

Huey A. Morgan and L. I. Rowsey opened a combination funeral home and furniture store on the Main Street of Henderson, Tennessee in 1913—a partnership that continued until Morgan purchased Rowsey’s interest in 1940. Fast forward 40 years to 1980 at which time Leon Johnson, a partner since 1955, bought the Morgan family’s share of the business and changed the name to Leon Johnson and Son Funeral Home. A decade later, with retirement approaching, Leon chose to sell his business to the Shackelford family. The name was changed to Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Johnson Chapel in 2007 and, in 2018, the business was merged with their one-time competitors, Casey Chapel.

How we began

Waco Memorial Park was founded in 1947 by men of outstanding vision whose purpose it was to create a nonsectarian cemetery, to be perpetuated as a memorial park. From the beginning, their ideas met the approval of families who saw Waco Memorial Park as a place where those who pass on may rest in an environment of dignity and peace.

What Differentiates Us

Waco Memorial Park is the only cemetery in the area that has perpetual care established under the State of Texas Department of Banking. In conformity with State Cemetery Laws, a percentage of each lot sale is deposited in an irrevocable trust fund which provides upkeep of each lot forever. Families will never be asked to pay any dues or assessments for upkeep.
