    Wayne Roberts of Selmer, TN

    May 31, 1941 - November 14, 2020

    Wayne Roberts was born May 31, 1941 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Hollin and Beatrice Jackson Roberts. He was united in marriage to Annie Sue Naylor on January 12, 1960. Mrs. Roberts preceded him in death on January 28, 2006, following 46 years of marriage. Wayne graduated from Selmer High School in 1959. He performed bridge and track maintenance for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 2000. During his tenure with the railroad Wayne serviced track from Chicago, IL to southern Mississippi. Working, tending to his yard and spending time with his family were Wayne's favorite activities. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Selmer Second Baptist Church; Wayne loved the Lord and his church family dearly. Wayne departed this life on November 14, 2020 in Germantown, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 5 Months, 14 Days. He is survived by a daughter, Dana Marik Young and husband Blake of Germantown, TN; five grandchildren: Jared Roberts and wife Aundrea of Montgomery, TX, Andrew Marik of Nashville, TN, Nicole Roberts of Fairfield, TX, Kyle Roberts of Montgomery, TX, and Siobhan Ward and husband Jay of Denver, CO; five great-grandchildren: Ava Roberts, Wyatt Roberts, Gavin Roberts, Sophia Ward, and Hunter Plummer; a sister, Rachel Mahoney of Johnstown, CO; and many extended family and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Roberts; a sister, Mary Ruth Scott; and two brothers, Larry Franklin Roberts and Bobby Gene Roberts. Memorials may be made to Selmer Second Baptist Church. Visitors are requested to wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines when attending the visitation and service.
