    James A. (Jimmy) Helton

    September 1, 1948 - November 24, 2020

    James A. (Jimmy) Helton was born on September 1, 1948 in Finger, Tennessee, the son of the late Fred Hardeman and Bessie Maurine Carpenter Helton. Jimmy moved to Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 3 where he went to Wellstation Elementary and graduated from Kingsbury High School. After graduation, he went to work for Plough Inc. until he was drafted to serve in Vietnam. He was wounded during battle and sent to Japan to recover and received a Purple Heart. He was then sent home where he went to work for Boiler Maker out of Memphis, Tennessee until he moved back to Finger to be with his parents. He worked for Kolpak until 2003. Jimmy was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and would help anyone in anyway he could, whether you were family, a friend, or even a stranger. He was a member of Maggie Jones Methodist Church in Finger, Tennessee. Jimmy Helton departed this life on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 72 years, 2 months, and 23 days. He is survived by his daughters, Candace Dawn Helton of Nashville, Tennessee and Ginger Marlene Berry and her husband Charles of Bartlett, Tennessee; sisters, Janice Collins and her husband Lewis of Counce, Tennessee and Marilyn Brimhall and her husband Paul Jr. of Millington, Tennessee; grandchildren, Chase Bermudez, Layton Berry, Lukas Berry, and Asher Helton; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Helton.
